📌 Featured Win

🎉 Milestone Win: Aarav sat through an entire haircut without tears today!

After 8 months of using our visual schedule and bringing his weighted lap pad to the barber shop, today he did not scream or push the barber away. The barber even let him touch the clipper first. To any parent in the trenches of sensory terror: small, consistent desensitization really works!

This made me tear up! We are still struggling with haircuts for our 4yo. Did you bring your own clippers or just headphones?

We brought his 3M noise defenders and let him hold a vibrating massager toy on his leg first so his body expected the sensation!

PECS communication card breakthrough for evening milk

For months, evening milk time was a cycle of crying and guessing. Last week our SLP advised putting a velcro picture card of a milk tumbler at his eye level on the kitchen cabinet. Today he pulled it off and placed it into my hand! No screaming, just pure communication. The relief is indescribable.

Finally received our official UDID card through Bowring Hospital!

It took 3 visits and lots of patience, but our permanent disability certificate is in hand. We immediately applied for Niramaya insurance through the local NGO. To anyone worried about the medical board: bring your CARS report, dress comfortably, and remember you are your child’s champion.

Congratulations Meera! Remember that under the RPwD Act 2016, once your UDID is issued, the school is legally required to provide reasonable accommodation under Section 16.

Movement break card system saved our homework battle

Our 7-year-old could not sit for more than 4 minutes of Hindi handwriting without falling off the chair. We laminated 3 "Movement Passes" (30 seconds of jumping jacks or wall pushups). He can use them anytime without punishment. Homework time dropped from 2 hours of weeping to 25 focused minutes.
